Frequenty Asked Questions
Is Positive Intelligence (PQ) right for me?
The PQ Program is suitable for individuals who are committed to improving their performance and effectiveness while reducing stress. If you’re looking for a science-based and trusted system to enhance your mental fitness, this program might be a good fit for you.
What is the science behind PQ?
The science behind Positive Intelligence (PQ) is fascinating and draws from various fields. Let's dive into the details:
1. Brain Regions Involved: Recent advances in functional MRI (fMRI) have allowed scientists to observe real-time brain activity. PQ research identifies two critical regions:
Survive Region (Saboteurs): These voices in your head generate negative emotions (stress, anxiety, self-doubt, etc.). They exist in the brainstem, limbic system, and parts of the left brain.
Thrive Region (Sage): Your Sage resides in the middle prefrontal cortex, “empathy circuitry,” and parts of the right brain. It generates positive emotions (empathy, compassion, curiosity, etc.) while handling challenges.
2. Three Core Mental Muscles:
Saboteur Interceptor Muscle: Strengthen this muscle to intercept and discredit Saboteurs. Saboteurs generate negative emotions, and mental fitness involves handling them effectively.
Self-Command Muscle: Boost your ability to command your mind, quiet Saboteurs, and activate the Sage region. Simple daily exercises help you run your brain.
Sage Muscle: Your Sage handles challenges with a clear, calm mind and positive emotions. It accesses five Sage Powers: Empathize, Explore, Innovate, Navigate, and Activate.
3. Neural Pathways and Habits:
Mental fitness requires laying down neural pathways through consistent daily practice. PQ Reps (10-second exercises) help boost your Self-Command muscle.
Intercept Saboteurs as they try to hijack your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Expose their lies and limiting beliefs.
4. Measuring Mental Fitness:
Your PQ (Positive Intelligence Quotient) measures the relative strength of your positive versus negative mental muscles.
PQ is the measure of your mental fitness. Take the PQ Score Assessment to discover how often your mind serves you versus sabotages you.
PQ combines neuroscience, psychology, and performance science to empower individuals to shift from Saboteurs to Sage, enhancing both performance and well-being.
It’s a powerful approach validated by over 500,000 participants worldwide.
How much time and effort is required?
The amount of time and effort required for the Positive Intelligence (PQ) Program can vary based on individual commitment and engagement. However, here are some general guidelines:
Weekly Video Sessions: The weekly video sessions are pre-recorded by Shirzad Chamine and typically last around 1 hour. These sessions provide essential insights and tools to enhance your positive intelligence. Additionally, there are exercises and practices to complete during the week. The time commitment for these exercises can vary, but allocating approximately 10-15 minutes per day is recommended.
Daily Practices: To rewire your mental habits effectively, consistent daily practice is essential. The program encourages participants to engage in specific (app guided) practices designed to strengthen their positive intelligence muscles. These practices can be done during your regular daily activities, such as commuting, taking breaks, or before bedtime.
Weekly Pod Accountability Meeting: The weekly pod accountability meeting, lasting around 30 minutes in a group setting is led by PQ Coach Crystal Trevors of Live Joy Coaching and Consulting. These weekly pod meetings provides an excellent opportunity for participants to connect, share experiences, and support each other on their Positive Intelligence journey.
Online Community Participation (Optional): Active participation in the exclusive online community allows you to connect with other participants outside of your Pod group. Here you can ask questions, share experiences, and participate in community coaching from Shirzad Chamine. The time spent in the community depends on your level of engagement and how much you choose to interact with others.
Self-Reflection and Application: Beyond the formal program sessions, you’ll benefit from self-reflection and applying the concepts in your daily life. This involves recognizing your Saboteurs, strengthening your Sage, and practicing PQ techniques. The effort you put into applying these principles will directly impact your results. Remember that the more consistent and committed you are, the greater the positive impact you’ll experience. Feel free to adjust your level of engagement based on your personal schedule and priorities.
